Ferrari Roma Spider
The convertible counterpart to the Roma coupĂ©, the Ferrari Roma Spider is a timelessly elegant yet high-performance car, capturing the distinctive flair and style of 1950s and 60s Rome. Retaining the hugely successful coupĂ©âs refined proportions and mid-front-engined 2+ layout, the Spider introduces an automatic soft-top, not seen on a front-engined Ferrari since the launch of the 365 GTS4 in 1969.
From the four-time âInternational Engine of the Yearâ award-winning V8 turbo family, comes the Ferrari Roma Spiderâs 620 CV engine. Focus was placed on delivering superior driving pleasure and comfort when dynamically developing the coupĂ© and these innovative features have been transferred to the Spider, namely: new cam profiles, and a speed sensor that measures turbine revolutions, allowing an impressive 5,000 increase in maximum rpm.
Ferrariâs engineers developed a pioneering mobile rear spoiler that has been integrated into the Roma Spiderâs rear screen, designed to retain the carâs pure, graceful design when retracted whilst guaranteeing the downforce vital for the Roma Spiderâs phenomenal performance by automatically deploying at high speeds. This has been done to guarantee best-in-class performance while still preserving the stylistic purity of its bloodline. The Roma Spider also features a patented wind deflector that can be deployed by the driver without stopping the car.
Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre headed by Flavio Manzoni, the Roma Spiderâs sophisticated fabric soft top is made of a bespoke material and has been designed to enhance the flawless proportions of the Ferrari Roma coupĂ© whilst guaranteeing the same levels of comfort as a car with a retractable hard top. The sober, spare front of the car looks as if it were sculpted from a single block of metal, creating an overhanging, sharknose effect. Engine cooling is guaranteed by the perforated surfaces, creating a new interpretation of the grille concept. The edges of the front grille flow into two linear, full-LED headlights, which are traversed by a horizontal DRL strip that brings a sense of tension to the entire circumference of the car.
Contrasting typical Ferrari sports cars, which tend to build around the figure of the driver, the Ferrari Roma Spiderâs cockpit takes on an almost symmetrical structure, with the creation of the Dual Cockpit concept. This has created an organic distribution of space and the carâs functions within the cockpit allowing the passenger to feel integral to the driving. A dedicated interactive display has been added to the passenger side of the car, allowing the passenger to transform into the co-driver. The Roma Spiderâs exterior focuses on a clean design, ensuring a smooth flow between its various elements with balanced proportions and elegant dimensions. To further highlight the carâs minimalistic design, all unnecessary detailing has been removed, allowing the illusion that the car was sculpted from a single block of metal.
This fine 1:8 scale model of the Ferrari Roma Spider in its launch specification with a Celeste Trevi exterior paint scheme, with an all black interior, has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops using CAD directly from Ferrariâs design office allowing us to perfectly recreate every detail at scale. Finally, the prototype model has undergone detailed scrutiny by Ferrariâs engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
The Ferrari Roma Spider is limited to 199 pieces.
